What Should I Eat To Prevent Diabetes?

Diabetes is a huge issue in the United States as well as other countries. There are two types. One type is type one that is non-preventable that children are usually diagnosed with. The second type is type two. Type two most times is caused from unhealthy habits and possibly genetics. Diabetes can be treated effectively but still have complications. The best way to prevent diabetes is to stay active and eat good healthy foods. What are healthy foods? Is there foods I can eat to prevent Diabetes?

There are numerous foods you can eat to prevent diabetes. There are also foods you should avoid to prevent diabetes. How do you balance the two and how do you know if you are eating the right things? Well it is actually quite simple and easy to learn. The first step is being dedicated. You must be dedicated to a healthier eating lifestyle and then you will be well on your way to preventing diabetes in your life.

The foods you should eat to avoid diabetes are actually quite delicious. People often like to say that healthy does not taste good. Healthy is as good as anything else. You just have to prepare those foods right. The best thing to do is eat a balanced diet with veggies, fruits, and good proteins. Good proteins come from eggs, fish, and lean meats and will keep you full for longer. The less cooking and prep on the veggies will provide more nutrition. If you want to eat carbohydrates then that is okay too. Good carbs come from fruit and whole grains. You just need to pick wisely with carbs and not overdo it. A person can even have the occasional sweet and not have any harm be done to their body.

The foods you should avoid eating to prevent diabetes are very obvious. Loading up on high fats and sugary drinks will send you down the road to possible diabetes. These foods and drinks not only negatively affect your sugar but also your heart and other organs. A person may end these items and be thin and think that it means they are okay on diabetes prevention but that is actually completely false. Even if a person is slim and eating the wrong items, they too are on the track to becoming pre-diabetic or even diabetic.

Preventing diabetes with eating right is one of the best decisions anyone can make. Eating the wrong foods is one of the main causes leading up to diabetes. If a person eats right and just adds a little activity into their lifestyle the possibilities of them getting diabetes is very low. So, start eating the right foods today and you can change your life forever in a positive way. When you crave something high in fat or sugar just remember that an occasional treat is fine but eating that way every day will cause you to have negative effects for your entire life.

Preventing Kids from Getting Diabetes

As a parent one of the most important responsibilities we have in life is protecting our children. This means not only protecting them from external danger but also the internal dangers. Internal dangers for kids can be anything from catching a bad sickness to getting a disease. Although we cannot protect them from everything we can take important steps to make sure they are as health as possible. What is one of the most common diseases children get from not being healthy? This answer is easy, Diabetes.

The first great way to prevent kids from getting diabetes is their nutrition.
Many foods in the world are horrible. When you walk through the grocery store you will see countless junk food items such as candy, gummy treats, TV dinners, chips, and sugary drinks with cute and fun kid characters. This draws in the child’s eye and the next thing you know they are begging for that item without even know what it is.  It is the responsibility of parents, teachers, and health care providers to teach children that these items are bad and should be eaten very rarely. If kids are taught to eat a well-balanced diet of fruits, vegetables, dairy, and proteins their risks of diabetes is cut in half. These good foods not only keep their body working properly but also help their body build up immunities to bad germs and illnesses around them.

The second great way to prevent kids from getting diabetes is staying active. Kids’ loves to run around and play but often times in-between school, work, and other life activities kids may not be getting all the exercise they need. It is very important for children to be active daily and not stuck in from of teachers or electronics the entire day. A great way to keep kids active is find a sport or active activity they love. Some children may not be able to find a sport they like but they will be able to find an activity that is fun for them like hikes, tree climbing, playing on play sets, role playing, paint ball shooting, or anything that gets them out and moving. The important part is they are out using their body. When children are active they burn off fat and getting their heart pumping. This helps the body to run smoothly and absorb healthy nutrients. When kids are active regularly and learn it young their chances of getting diabetes is lowered significantly.

One can see the best way to prevent diabetes in kids is staying active and maintaining a healthy well balanced diet. It does not matter what the activity is as long as they enjoy it and are sticking with it. When a kid is healthy their chances of getting diabetes at any age is very small and extremely unlikely. If we instill healthy habits in people very young then the older they get they tend to stick with these habits and are healthier adults.

How To Prevent Getting Diabetes

For a person to prevent getting diabetes they need good health and some luck. There are many ways to make yourself healthy and be less predisposed to getting diabetes, but part of diabetes is genetic also. If you are diagnosed with diabetes and healthy then your likelihood of having to take medication to control it is extremely less likely. Even if you are a person who is health and gets diabetes and must be on medication, the amount of medication you would need would be very low compared to someone who did not take care of their body properly.

Exercise is one of the most important things for your health, especially as an adult.  A person needs to do cardio activity at least three times a week but ideally five to seven days a week. Cardio exercise can be anything from walking, biking, running, hiking, using an elliptical, or using a stair stepper. Cardio exercise gets your blood pumping, your heart working, and all of body just working to its full potential. On top of cardio a person should also do strength training. Strength training is lifting weights, doing exercise with weights, using weight machines, pull-ups, pushups, or any variation of those activities. A person who exercises with both cardio and strength training will have much better odds of never getting diabetes or anything other disease. When your body is active it not only has less fat and more muscle, but it works easier.

Maintaining a healthy diet is the second most important thing for your health. Eating a healthy diet rich is proteins, dairy, good carbs, fruits and vegetables will have your body running more efficiently. When you eat healthy your body does not hold toxins and eliminates food more freely. This helps your sugar stay regulated and the chances of diabetes becomes less and less.

Lastly the most important way to prevent getting diabetes while maintaining a healthy diet and exercising is seeing a doctor yearly for checkups. Yearly checkups from a doctor help nip problems in the butt before they get to the level of diseases or deadly.  These checkups usually take thirty minutes or less and go very smoothly for patient and doctor. Remember when you go to have made a list of any concerns and all tests and or things you want checked on your body. This will let you know possibly what you need to work on as well if a test comes back not as positive if you would like.

Overall it is easy to prevent diabetes once you get into the habit of regular exercise and eating right.  If you are not currently in shape and eating right then that is okay. You can start today and still greatly decrease the risks of ever getting diabetes. The changes can start being made today. Even if you already have diabetes you can make the right decisions now and possibly be taken off medications with healthy eating, regular exercise, and your doctor’s permission to do so.
